The quarter finalists of the FIFA World Cup are known. Any surprises?
At the first elimination round, there were a few surprises, including Japan and Slowakia, and the USA. In the quarter finals, it seems only the ‘predictable’ teams survived, including Brazil, The Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Argentina. Personally, I think both Uruguay and Paraguay have performed beyond expectations. What’s your take? Did any of the remaining teams surprise you, or are we now left with the strongest teams of the World Cup?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm surprised that Paraguay made it, and that England didn't.
Of course Paraguay's route to the QF was not so daunting as it might have been, and England faced Germany, so one of those two "predicable" teams would necessarily fall.
Uruguay did not surprise me, esp after I saw their very first game. They are all round pretty good, and have two red hot strikers that could even win Golden Boot if they were playing for a team that would stay in the competition to the late stages.
