The Philadelphia Flyers just finished a remarkable comeback against the Boston Bruins. They came back from a 3-0 series deficit and won

4 straight games, the last of which was in Boston. In the first round defeated number 2 seed New Jersey Devils. In game one of the Eastern Conference Finals, they defeated the Montreal Canadiens 6-0 in Montreal. As the number 7 seed entering the playoffs, are they the surprise team in this year's playoffs and can they continue this run and make it to the finals? If so, what do you think their chances are of winning in the Stanley Cup Finals?

I have the Philadelphia Flyers picked in my pool to make the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so them coming back, for me to win in seven was great. I also had them beating the Boston Bruins in seven and that was worth an extra point for me. They are absolutely the surprise team in the playoffs and now I would like to see them take it all. I actually had them playing against the Detroit Red Wings, but it looks like the salary cap and time, not to mention injuries caught up to them. Since I am not a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks I would love it if Philly won the cup, but since I am a betting man, if that is the match up I will have to go with the boys from Chicago taking the finals in probably 6 games. It appears the Hawk goalie has been playing well and that was the weak part of their game. If the Flyers can find some way to neutralize Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp, and not to mention Marian Hossa, then they have a shot. The Hawks are big and fast, and have not played for a cup in a long time. That could work against them, but it also pretty much describes the Flyers too. I guess I just think the Chicago boys have a little too much going for them this year. It would have been better for the Eastern Conference if they instead of the Sharks had played the previous series against the Wings. It would have made their road a little more trying and their legs a little wearier, but I am still going to pull for them boys from Philly.

Kerry I know you are ecstatic about this knowing you're from Philadelphia from your previous posts.
No team in the [NBA as of now had recovered from a 0-3 deficit to win the series in the end (the Orlando Magic is trailing the Boston Celtics 2-3 as of this time, and might pull a miracle in their Western Conference Finals showdown, too).
But the lowly seeded Philadelphia Flyers}} defied the trends and great odds to pull out the biggest recovery not only in the sports of but also in any other sports in major leagues in the United States.
This is indeed very fascinating; by upending the Boston Bruins this monumental upset even helped them get into the NHL Finals against equally tough [Chicago Bears for the right to hoist NHL Stanley Cup trophy. Wow, what a prized for the resilient, pesky, courageous and gritty Flyers squad.
Many fans all over the world including me are certainly elated and awed with this lofty achievement. This series win provided by the Flyers will definitely make it to the history of the sports of ice hockey and in sports as a whole as one of the greatest upset and recovery of all-time.
Now lets see if their giant-killing spree will continue against the tough Chicago Bears side.

Well, I think the Eastern Conference finals in general is pretty darn surprising. Considering you are looking at a matchup that features the seventh seeded Philadelphia Flyers and the eighth seeded Montreal Canadiens. On the Western side of the conference finals it is clearly a more well expected matchup with a number one, versus number two seeded team.

Since the Flyers currently have a 2-0 lead in the series against Montreal they are most definitely looking like a team of destiny. I couldn’t believe they came back from the deficit they had against Boston to win that series. I can’t even imagine what the fans in that city are going through. Being a Chicago Blackhawks fan, I sort of hope that Philadelphia’s luck will run out once they get to the NHL finals, but they certainly look like they are on quite a run. Having said that you certainly have to consider the Flyers as one of if not the, surprise team of the season.

The Eastern Conference Finals is a battle between two amazing Cinderella stories. While the Philadelphia Flyers coming back from a 3-0 series deficit AND a 3-0 game deficit in the first period is a great story, the Habs came from seemingly insurmountable odds as well. Against the top-seeded Washington Capitals and superstar Alexander Ovechkin, the Habs seemed overmatched. When the Capitals took a 3-1 series lead it seemed the end was inevitable. But then Habs goalie Jaroslav Halak found some magic (they say he was touched by the Forum Ghosts) and Mike Cammalleri turned into a scoring machine. And then, three games later, the great Ovechkin was gone from the playoffs. Then came the Pittsburgh Penguins and the “other” superstar, Sidney Crosby. The TSN commentators gave the Habs no chance. But 7 games later, another superstar was gone. Now, somehow, we have two teams with the same number of points in the regular season playing for the right to play for the Stanley Cup. Nobody knows what’s going to happen. Even after a 6-0 loss in the first game, the Habs are ready to come back.
