The music video for MGMT's Kids is effing terrifying. Also does anyone know what MGMT stands for?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yeah, no kidding eh... the "Kids" music video is one of the most jarring yet also potentially impactful music videos I think I've ever seen. But it's not just insane and scary for it's own sake. I think the point of it is to jar us awake from so many of our modern perspective of "on the go life with kids". Little do we realize the world our children live in is one of a slowly awakening consciousness where everything unknown is extremely scary (think about our evolved survival instinct... everything unknown might potentially be trying to kill you.. fear like pain is an evolved response that helps us stay alive). So the "kids" video is, I think, potentially one of the most important videos of the last decade.... (and maybe one of the most underappreciated?)

Also, MGMT does not explicitly stand for The Management. I'm sure there is some kind of implicit connection or something, but as far as I know, the band themselves have never explicitly gone on the record to say as much.

:)
