The government is by the people, for the people. And what does it mean when some Americans are trying to get rid of it?

Our Founding Fathers were very clear that the Federal Government should not be big... they were afraid of having the United States turn into another society like the one they left. Large government took they felt took away individual rights. So they very carefully divided what they thought the Federal Government should do for the people which was very little... they were only things that they thought the people could not do for themselves, such as providing for a military. The next level of things that government should do for the people was found at the state level.... the Founding Fathers wanted to keep the laws closer to the people.... which is why if you look at laws from state to state they are different.... laws regarding marriage, divorce, education and criminal acts are different from state to state. As we continue down the government chain you will see from municipality to municipality different laws. It is not that government has no place in our society... but Federal government was always intended to be the smallest branch of our government. The vision of our Founding Fathers is being turned on its head. And I am afraid there will come a day when we all deeply regret the direction we are heading. There is so much more to this question then can be answered here. Go read the Federalist papers and anything you can find written by our Founding Fathers... it will help you to understand the vision they had for our country which has been going just fine until we started changing their vision... adding Amendment after Amendment some of which have changed the course of history and not always for the best. Looking forward to hearing more answers here....

Its normal in any democracy . Few Ultra groups think that their interests are overlooked by the populist governments hence they become ultra s and find ways to overthrow governments .
