The RMS Titanic was built in a Scotland Naval shipyard]]. It was the largest floating vessel of the time and was made from iron and steel. Designed to be unsinkable because of the ability to seal off chambers.
On April 14th at 11:40 midnight the RMS titanci was struck and began sinking, she finished sinking April 15th( the morning after being struck) 2:20 AM.
On April 14th The captain, ordering full steam in extra calm water off of Nova Scotia/New Foundland, pushed her through ice floes. With no binoculars in the crows nest the two lookouts could not see the iceberg that was drifting towards the path. When it was finally seen they signaled below to turn to avoid the berg, but the ship, being made of iron and in cold water was slow to respond. The iceberg struck on the side of the ship and left a gash, which allowed water to flood in the chambers. While they closed the sections, the water seeped to the above level four decks and she slowly sank. Breaking apart mid ways into two pieces. It sunk rather quickly, at 2:20 she was resting on the sea floor. 1517 perished And 706 in total survived.
