Dallas Cowboys scouting assistant Rich Behm's spinal cord was severed by a fractured vertebrae when the team's indoor practice facility collapsed on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was left paralyzed from the waist down. The 33-year-old Behm was one of a dozen people who suffered injuries in the accident. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis suffered a fractured cervical vertebra and assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither broke two bones in his leg.

It is very sad. You really never know what can happen in a day. I hope
he and the dozen other injured men heal well. Here are the injuries I
read about (at
foxnews.com
):
  • Scouting assistant Rich Behm's spine was severed, had surgery to stabilize a fracture his thoracic spine, and is permanently paralyzed from the waist.
  • Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis fractured his cervical vertebrae (not paralyzed).
  • Assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg.
