What is the best place to shore dive in Hurghada, Egypt?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Not many of the coral reefs in Hurghada are accessible by diving from the shore, but a couple of the options are Makadi Bay and Soma Bay. Makadi Bay has a "network of coral gardens from which the most famous is adequately named 'the Aquarium'," as well as "a great fringing reef with an impressive drop off which attracts great turtles, moray eels, and occasionally, big game such as reef white-tip sharks and barracudas". Soma Bay is "legendary for hammerhead sightings in late spring and manta rays in wintertime," as well as "one of the largest reefs in Safaga, featuring numerous grottos and overhangs, where gorgonians and soft corals thrive with the frequent nurturing currents."
Or, if you prefer wreck diving, the Excalibur is close enough to dive from the shore. "She is a very young wreck but the coverage of soft coral has already begun. Many glassfish and lionfish swim around the wreck and they say it is the only place that seahorses can be found in Hurghada. Dolphins and turtles have been reported as well but they are not very common."

Thanks: But either of those destinations are not actually IN Hurghada, but at least 1 hour away... I'm looking for a nice shore dive resort IN Hurghada for me and my son, with a dive center on site.
