She may have technically won the series as during the final official show she was chosen. However, in real life, it certainly seems like she isn't a winner in this situation.

Melissa was a winner in winning over people's hearts. The audience has certainly loved her. It can be argued that she just got a good cut during the editing but she always seemed sweet.
