12. Love Actually - Warning! Chick Flick! But it's a funny comedy packed with British humor and a lot of amazing stars (including Hugh Grant, Emma Thomson, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, and Liam Neeson...to only name a few!) Watch to remember the meaning of love...and to watch Bill Nighy sing the wonderfully terrible "If you Really Love Christmas" over and over.
11. Home Alone - Somehow this goofy romp really became a Christmas classic around our house, and now I take pleasure in also mouthing the words to "ya filthy animal!". Great for the whole family.
10. Die Hard - Because not every movie is sugar and spice. Listen, it has Christmas trees, Christmas music, and even Christmas wrapping. It's everything a holiday movie could want! To quote Alan Rickman: "Now I have a machine gun. Ho...ho...ho." (*NOT KID APPROPRIATE*)
9. Gremlins - Frost your gingerbread cookies, and then stuff a gremlin in the blender. It's Christmas all around in the small town that is destroyed by a cute little Mogwai. (Tip: Watch for the scene when a Gremlin leaps out of the family Christmas tree--you can actually see a crew man's hands pushing the tree over!)
8. The Ref - Amazing and underrated dark Christmas comedy starring Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey. It's a hostage comedy about a bickering couple kidnapped by Dennis Leary in their home on Christmas Eve. Believe it or not, it IS very, very Christmasy and sweet in its own way. It's also freakin' hilarious! If you are a fan of Leary's whatsoever, you MUST add this to your Christmas movie list! (*NOT KID APPROPRIATE*)
7. The Muppet Christmas Carol - Time to lighten up the viewing just a little bit with a touching Kermit tale of Scrooge's changing heart. Please encourage your family to compare & contrast between this Dickens interpretation and "Scrooged" (below).
6. Scrooged - Mid-1980s Bill Murray brilliance. It's a modern, goofy, hilarious take on the classic Dickens tale about Scrooge, except Murray plays the role as a cynical TV executive. Look for Carol Kane and Karen Allen to guest star. God, Bill Murray makes the holidays funnier. (*NOT KID APPROPRIATE....SOMEWHAT*)

5. It's a Wonderful Life - to help balance out the bitterness of Scrooged, it's time to move on to this sappy, but classic take on the Christmas spirit. Jimmy Stewart is breathtaking in this role.
4. Elf - This'll ramp up the Christmas spirit quotient. After all, nothing screams holidays like Will Ferrell in tights!
3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - which you obviously already appreciate for its ludicrous humor. It wouldn't Christmas without the Griswolds!
2. The Original Animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas - Short, but succinctly about everything that is fun and sweet about Christmas.
1. A Christmas Story - The quintessential Christmas day (TBS-exploited) tale of a boy and his Red Rider BB gun. Classic, fun, and sweet!

M$Joyeux Noel: The tale of the Christmas eve cease fire between the Germans and everyone else during WWI.
A Christmas Carol: The ultimate Christmas tale
A Christmas Story: Movie adaptation from "In God We Trust. All Others Pay Cash"
Gremlins: Kids young and old want a Gizmo under their tree.
The Nightmare Before Christmas: Jack has the Christmas spirit but his naive way of dispersing gifts is actually amusing. (where can I find a head in a box?)
The Santa Clause 1 and 2: Not sure I would recommend a trilogy....too much of a good thing and all.
Santa Claus, The Movie is an oldie but goody in my book.
A Charlie Brown Christmas really brings out the best of the Peanuts gang.
Deck the Halls: everyone knows someone like these guys.
Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life were already mentioned.
Scrooged: Bill Murray eating a toaster was great!
The Polar Express: Loved Tom Hanks in this one.
Jingle All the Way: What was Christmas about anyways? Oh, yeah, crazy reindeer.
and last but not least, my kids favorite...
Unaccompanied Minors

M$Having said that, the one Christmas-related movie that stands head and shoulders above all others is It's a Wonderful Life.
I loved the original Miracle on 34th Street when I was a kid, but it's a long time since I've seen it, and I don't know if it would still be to my taste.
Don't forget Die Hard is set on Christmas Eve!
Admittedly it is not all that Christmassy...
