I’m honestly not sure where Food Network is trying to go with this show. Given America’s obsession with celebrity, I think there might be a place for a “celebrity” cooking show, but this just feels a bit contrived. It’s like someone thought, “Dancing with the Stars has been very successful. How can we make a cooking show like this?” If it works, I’m thinking it will have less to do with the fact that it is Brian Boitano but more to do with him being able to make interesting food in an interesting way (like any of their other food personalities).

As far as a pure celebrity food show, I think it would be more interesting to put them into a “Rachel Ray Travels” type format where they trek around the city where they live/grew up/etc. Along those lines, the PBS show Spain…On the Road Again with Mario Batali and Gwyneth Paltrow seems like a much more interesting and unique concept. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m much more inclined to try to watch that than Brian Boitano cooking.

All these sort of shows get canceled before the season even ends. However, the Food Network is when good shows like these prosper. However, more cooking shows aren't the formula for increasing ratings for the Food Network. My prediction: it'll last 1-2 seasons, and then they'll ultimately be shut down.
