I'm ready to purchase one as soon as it comes out actually. I would certainly love to wait for an Apple Tablet but when looking at the cost I can't imagine Apple will be even remotely close to the cost of the Crunchpad and while I love Apple products I'm not sure the extra cost will be worthwhile for me in this space...

I personally have no use for it for simply browsing online, my laptop is only a couple feet away from me, light, has a full keyboard, and well can do everything the crunchpad can (besides being a touchscreen).
On the other hand it would inspire me to pick up a project, home control on a centralized screen.
I would love to stick it to the wall, have it constantly display a dashboard (news, weather, sticky notes, calendar) and then one can use it to interact with objects in the house:
turn the lights on/off
Turn the TV on/off,
fire up some music by activating an applescript on our computer connected to the TV/speakers
VOICE CONTROL.
If I get inspired I will launch myself into this project, time allowing it so I might have to wait until next summer, or else I have no use whatsoever for it, and will not pay 300$ for something just to browse the net considering I have an iphone in my pocket if I am on the go, and or else my laptop is just a few feet away.

However if it really does exist, and at that price, I would certainly consider it. Though all Apple would have to do to get me to wait-and-see is announce that they have a similar tablet in the pipeline.
Frankly I don't believe Mike Arrington could beat Apple to the punch for a device like this. How is he going to pull together the resources to design and build such a complex device to such a low price? All I can think is he's got pixies in his garage. :)
Would be delighted to be proved wrong though. :)

Now with the processor speed and the possible lack of upgrades to make the Crunchpad into a gaming machine it would lack in that department, but for people on Mahalo daily that would like to roam and pay bills while still answering questions and asking questions this would be the perfect solution :O)

Will you buy a Crunchpad if they come out in November?
I've been looking forward to this since the rumors started to float around about the development of this tablet.

It's reported to be under $300 and available sometime in November. While it's tough to say that either of these things are true, it would be cool if they were.
So, my question is... do you think that you'll buy one of these Crunchpad's or are you going to wait for some sort of similar Apple tablet to appear?

I am interested to buy a simple crunchpad with lesser cost for my use.. "Michael Arrington’s CrunchPad appears in today’s Singapore Straits Times. The Straits Time team apparently interviewed the Fusion Garage chaps last week. In short, the specifications as revealed by ST is as below:"

I don't think so. I would buy an Apple touchpad IF it runs OS X. If it is a big iPod Touch, I am not interested in that either. If a device like this is going to be relatively limited in functionality, I would want it to be much smaller. I don't see the point of carrying around a 10-12" device to browse the web and do email. I like Linux, and I'm enough of a gadget freak that I might get one if it is cheap enough and there is some sort of killer app that can convince me, but if it's borderline, I'm passing, Arrington has always struck me as a jerk.

I find this rather unbelievable. However if it really does exist, and at that price, I would certainly consider it. Though all Apple would have to do to get me to wait-and-see is announce that they have a similar tablet in the pipeline.

Being a computer technician I always try to buy the latest technology. With the specification undetermined with this device it is hard to say if I would purchase it. I think that with this we can consider a great amount of possibilities. Say that they do decide to add the webcam and speakers to the system. By doing this people will be able to sit anywhere in their home and use the PC. Imagine sitting on the beach and relaxing with your computer right there at your fingertips and while enjoying the cool breeze of the ocean and the shining sun you are on skype talking to your loved ones. Able to walk with your pc along the beach with them enjoy every minute with you. To do a virtual webcam tour with a realtor overseas of your Dream home in Singapore. Now with the processor speed and the possible lack of upgrades to make the Crunchpad into a gaming machine it would lack in that department, but for people on Mahalo daily that would like to roam and pay bills while still answering questions and asking questions this would be the perfect solution :O)
