I use a Lenovo Thinkpad. I like it, but it's not as durable as my old IBM Thinkpad. This may be a function of cost (my new one is relatively inexpensive), but it's enough that my next laptop purchase isn't automatically going to be a Lenovo. I also have some experience with Toshiba laptops, and they're pretty nice as well. Unless a 3rd party comes along and wows me, my next purchase will probably come down to one of those two brands.

Dell are very good. We currently use them for all work computers.

Lenovo/IBM are notorious for wanting nothing to do with you once you've purchased their product. Whether it's a desktop or laptop, once you ring up they will ask you to do a list of troubleshooting and each time you phone back they will require more troubleshooting until you get frustrated and give up or your warranty expires.
This is from a computer guru friend's personal experience as well as mine in business environments.

I recently purchased an Asus eeePC 1000H and am very happy with it.

I just got Acer Aspire One, but it sometimes restarts on its own. I'm reluctant to bring it to the manufacturers as it can take a very long time and I need it. never have a problem with compaq I own previously and my current BenQ laptop. BenQ is very durable and economical, but I don't know if you have it there.

i definitley would go with a Sony Vaio, the keyboard is super nice and the mouse pad is very universal and the computer itself is so nice looking. Definitley go to your local best buy first to see what im talking about. In comparison to any other laptop the Sony is so much better.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Mike!

I have always been a fan of Dell, especially after living in Austin, Texas for awhile, (home of Michael Dell, almost all businesses in Austin buy Dell, it is as though nothing else exists) but then I ended up buying a Toshiba, which I am finding to be a great little machine. Lots of IT people I know refer to Thinkpads as Stickpads, I think that is all I want to say about it.

I think Apple laptops are the best, the graphics and video support are the best around. I use it for creating web pages which carry lots of graphics and pictures and they are light weight too.
