How many IM accounts do you have? Adium is a multi-protocol IM client.
Messenger for Mac is missing a number of features available with the Live Messenger Client for Windows (Voice and Video, though I understand those features will be availble in upcoming versions), so you aren't losing much or any functionality by using Adium.
