Why do I have to log into Digg.com twice?

Whenever, I attempt to log into DIGG.com with firefox, I am forced to log in twice. The first time I log in it just comes back to the main page as if I haven' t logged in and I have to click on login again. I also have to log in twice with diggbar. This problem does not exist with IE7. Is this a firefox problem? I am using firefox 3.52. If it is, is there a way the fix the problem. I mainly use firefox. I rarely use IE7.

Did you try clearing your Cache and Cookies?

I have looked online and the only thing I can POSSIBLY see is that it might be a problem with java,

If you dont have anything to important you can stand to lose I would remove FF and Java and reinstall them both.

I would also make a note of it to Mozilla.

• See my comments to this answer. In summary removing firefox and java from my system and reinstalling firefox worked. I have not reinstalled java or any of my addons yet. Will do so one at a time to see if one of them was the cause of the problem.

I had tried clearing the cache / cookies before through firefox itself and also using ccleaner. This did not help. As far as reinstalling firefox and java, don't really want to do that but if i can't find another answer, I may consider it. Thanks.

It worked! I backed up my bookmarks, took note of my firefox addons and uninstalled firefox completely. Also uninstalled java. Just reinstalled firefox and went to Digg. I only had to log in once. I haven't reinstalled java or any addons yet so I don't know if it was java that was causing the problem or one of my addons. Will add them back one at a time and see.

Thank you very much for your help.

If those don't work for you, you could try IE Tab, an addon to Firefox, and everytime you go to Digg it will use IE instead, but won't switch you out of your Firefox window. I find it handy. You would have to configure IE Tab to always use IE on digg.com. I do so by right clicking on the little firefox icon in the lower right of the screen (this appears after you install the addon). It will load the "Sites Filter" tab. under URL put: http://*.digg.com/* and all digg.com URLs will default to use IE.
