I would say that you can't go too far wrong with Remember The Milk.
It offers great features including email/SMS/IM integration, tagging, advanced search, keyboard shortcuts and even offline access with Google Gears.
You can find a great guide to everything it offers here:

A guide to integrating it into Gmail here:

And even a guide to using it on you iPhone/iPod Touch here:
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/tips/2008/11/06/remember_the_milk_for_iphone_and_ipod_touch_now_available.html
Use it as a Google Gadget:

Add it as a Vista Desktop Gadget:
http://markgodwin.blogspot.com/2008/10/remember-milk-on-your-vista-desktop.html
Basically, it's a great to-do list manager on its own but the amount you can additionally do with it is far superior to most other online managers.

Thanks for all the links! This will really help me get organized.
Remember The Milk is the best that I've used. It's very straightforward and it's been around a while (2+ years, I think), so they've had time to refine and work out all the kinks.

Always have your todo list at hand. You can get Toodledo on your mobile phone, in your email, on your calendar, in your RSS reader, via IM, and integrated directly into your web browser. You can even print up a special foldable booklet that will fit in your pocket.

It's actually the best to do list manager I've ever used, online or off. I especially like the way you can set up events to recur two days (or weeks, or whatever) *after* you've completed them, rather than once a week no matter what. And the search function rocks.

37 Signals has three different products with to-do list capabilities depending on the nature and scope of the work:
1) Basecamp - Large Group Project Management and Group Collaboration
2) Backpack - Solo or Small Group. Like having a personal intranet.
3) Highrise - Contact Management. Keep track of who your business talks to, what was said, and what to do next.

I agree that Remember the Milk is one of the best to-do list managers, as it has access to a lot of methods for adding tasks no matter where you are, including e-mail and text, as well as many methods for receiving reminders.
If you're a Gmail user, Gmail has also recently added a to-do list in their Labs sections (Settings > Labs). I use Gmail so much, I found this was the simplest method for me. The one to-do list I've actually stuck with. :-)

I love Remember The Milk. It has all the features you'd want in a to-do list, integrates fantastically with GMail and Google Calendar, even has an iPhone app that syncs with the service (as well as a program that will sync to BB and WM devices). And the best part -- RTM is free!

I really like tiddlywiki - http://www.tiddlywiki.com/
You can build your own online at http://www.tiddlywiki.org/
There are also loads of to-do list variations on tiddlywiki, e.g. Monkey GTD - http://monkeygtd.tiddlyspot.com/#MonkeyGTD

http://www.dontforgetthemilk.com would be my first choice, although Google have launched Tasks within the Labs section of Gmail http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_whatsnew.html
The latter may be easier if you already have a Gmail account. If not, Don't Forget The Milk gets my vote.

If you have a customized iGoogle page, or are part of the Google network, they have a great application for managing your To-Do List. It is very simple and I like the fact I can put it anywhere on my iGoogle page that I look at all day.
