I would say that you can't go too far wrong with Remember The Milk.

It offers great features including email/SMS/IM integration, tagging, advanced search, keyboard shortcuts and even offline access with Google Gears.

Remember The Milk is the best that I've used. It's very straightforward and it's been around a while (2+ years, I think), so they've had time to refine and work out all the kinks.

It's actually the best to do list manager I've ever used, online or off. I especially like the way you can set up events to recur two days (or weeks, or whatever) *after* you've completed them, rather than once a week no matter what. And the search function rocks.

I agree that Remember the Milk is one of the best to-do list managers, as it has access to a lot of methods for adding tasks no matter where you are, including e-mail and text, as well as many methods for receiving reminders.

If you're a Gmail user, Gmail has also recently added a to-do list in their Labs sections (Settings > Labs). I use Gmail so much, I found this was the simplest method for me. The one to-do list I've actually stuck with. :-)

I love Remember The Milk. It has all the features you'd want in a to-do list, integrates fantastically with GMail and Google Calendar, even has an iPhone app that syncs with the service (as well as a program that will sync to BB and WM devices). And the best part -- RTM is free!

http://www.dontforgetthemilk.com would be my first choice, although Google have launched Tasks within the Labs section of Gmail http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_whatsnew.html

The latter may be easier if you already have a Gmail account. If not, Don't Forget The Milk gets my vote.

If you have a customized iGoogle page, or are part of the Google network, they have a great application for managing your To-Do List. It is very simple and I like the fact I can put it anywhere on my iGoogle page that I look at all day.
