Pownce is a micro blogging platform similar to Twitter. You can post short messages and make those messages available to public or selected users. On December 1, 2008 Pownce service was closed down. Most of the team are now with Six Apart - creator of blogging software TypePad

Cut-and-pasted without indicating a quote. And the it doesn't make sense to say Pownce is X, and you can do Y, and then say it's been closed down.
