MySpace is in the news this week with new offerings for artists, particularly musicians. I believe this is a return to their roots. They have also announced partnerships with Hulu and others in the media and entertainment industry.
MySpace, headquartered in Beverly Hills, Ca, was aquired by News Corporation in 2005.

I can't talk to much about it, or they'll kill me haha..
But in my opinion, they concentrated on too many things. They were doing social networking, music, mail, changing profiles, comedians, developer network, apps, chat, IM, etc. It got too busy and not enough people enjoyed the individual features. I think many felt overwhelmed and left for something more direct and more simple, such as facebook.
I also heard that customizing profiles annoyed people. Every different page could turn into a cluster@#$%^& depending on where they got the profile from.
I liked and still like MySpace. I also use facebook and probably have a name on all the different social networks. I still have to hand it to Twitter who took the one thing everyone used and made a simple site based on that.
People don't realize that LESS is MORE in many cases. It's what I do as a writer. Too much, and people won't read it.
