Hardware wise, they are pretty similar to other Core 2 Dup laptops. Much of what they have (Bliuetooth, webcam, mic, FireWire, 802.11n wireless) is pretty standard these days. The magnetic latch and magnetic power cord are good improvements.

The operating system and bundled software are outstanding, and the support from Apple is excellent.

What is the price difference between a Dell and Apple? Is the Apple OS worth the additional costs?

For a comparably equipped laptop, the price difference is not great, maybe $100-200.The issue is that you can get MUCH lower priced laptops like netbooks and other stripped down laptops, which may be entirely adequate for many people's needs.

OS is a personal opinion thing, but I would pay a big premium to run OS X rather than Vista (and Macs can run Windows fine).
