I know some people who believe the internet is the scourage of humanity. I personally don't believe so. In fact, I feel it's a good thing for the most part and has made us more well-rounded individuals. The internet has made the world smaller and opened our eyes to different cultures. It's given us the opportunity to speak real time with individuals in other countries, to show us how different people live. It has brought a wealth of knowledge to our fingertips and has made us smarter, more culturally tolerant, and more diverse than ever before.
A little known fact is that, when the first printing press was invented, it had to be smuggled to keep it out of the hands of the then very powerful church. The church felt it was Satan's tool and wanted it obliterated. It was successfully smuggled and made books cheaper and more quickly produced than ever before, resulting in an upsurge of the percentage of people who could read. Books were no longer only for the wealthy and knowledge was able to pass more freely and accurately to each person. To me, the internet is the "printing press" of the 20th century.

I like having all the information and social communication under my fingertips. I also like the ability to communicate with hundreds of other people all over the world. Since, you can't be left out, you will most likely feel like your in the "in crowd". Also the best shopping, you can find and being in total control of what you really need to buy, not just wants. Well for some anyway!

The fact that you can find almost anything you want in just a few seconds, and it gives access to make it easier to communicate with people you otherwise couldn't.
The world wide web is my favorite function of the internet because it has revolutionized, in a positive way I think, the way we interact, how we obtain and provide information and our access to new forms of entertainment.
the 24/7 nature of it, it is always open and i haven't been completely stumped when looking for something (be that information, entertainment, wasting time, interacting with people, playing games, etc)...
emails, search engines to search wahtever I want, free information, photosharing
