Currently, Web 2.0 allows us to search a "keyword" into a search engine and get a list of websites related to that keyword.
E.g. Searching Rhino would get a list of websites related to rhinos.
In Web 3.0, the web will assist you find the information you need whilst with Web 2.0, it gives you anything related. Web 3.0 will have search engines that remember information about you, what things you like to eat, do, wear etc.
When you search something like "flights to Sydney, Australia for under $3000", the search engine will look through numerous websites until it finds any flight deals that go to Sydney and are under $3000. Prior to this, if you have made flight deals before - the search engine may remember if you like to go first class and fly with Virgin Atlantic as your flight preference, prioritizing Virgin Atlantic and then all the other flight companies from the most similar to the least. A process of searching dozens of flight companies to find the cheapest airline may take a long time in Web 2.0 but a number of seconds in Web 3.0.
Web 3.0 will also have a variety of ways in interacting with the internet. Internet can be accessed via a variety of mobile devices (and gradually touch notebooks such as the upcoming Microsoft Courier and the rumored iTablet). Touch, speech and gesture recognition will be common ways of interacting with a website. So to answer a Mahalo Answer question, just speak your answer....
As slightly mentioned, Web 3.0 will recognize information about you and be able to interpret the context of a search. For example, if you were to type "Apple" - by looking at previous searches, it will be able to display relevant pages depending on the food or the company.
Web 3.0 may also be in 3D and in a virtual world. With 3D vision becoming more common, with 3D TVs available in 2010 and with 3D movies also common - being in a 3D virtual world at home and watching it on a 3D TV Screen or Computer will be possible. Information will be more graphic and the way we search may be by using avatars or virtual people.
You could say that the WorldWide Web is becoming a WorldWise Web!

The largest commercial venture for sharing data so far is BestBuy.com through the use of http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations ontology. Will be interesting to see what other big retailers will follow suit. Theoretically, search engines will now be able to tell you the store nearest you with the product in stock, the price, payment method and whether or not the store is open.
Early work was done to share medical and bio-science research data. Availability of commercial ontologies, support by major search engines and content management systems like Drupal will allow us to start bringing Web 3.0 into the mainstream.

Web 3.0 is the next generation of web technology that supports linked data otherwise known as the Web. Berners-Lee's original vision for the world wide web of meaning is finally coming to fruition. The largest commercial venture for sharing data so far is BestBuy.com through the use of http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations ontology. Will be interesting to see what other big retailers will follow suit. Web 3.0 is the emerging idea on the web of moving away from service provided information (such as googling) and aggregating information from the real time web (twitter and facebook) to provide "current" search results. The interim will be a mash up of these information sources but eventually we could see information provided entirely by twitter and facebook which can break news, provide reviews, and track trends in the world in real time rather than waiting on static information pages to be created. Search engines will mainly aggregate this information and display time sensitive search results such as "world series" showing twitter updates about this World Series like "yankees down by 2!" instead of the current results relating to mlb.com, wikipedia entries, etc.
