What is the best way (free if possible) to batch convert a bunch of .wav's to .mp3's on a Mac and/or PC?

All2Lame is quick and dirty. Uses lame to do the encoding in the back-end. Do entire folder, or individual files. I think you can even do nested folders, but havn't tried as of yet.

SoundApp is really good at doing that on a mac. It's free, at http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~franke/SoundApp/.
But there is also tunebite on windows. Its not free, but its really awsome. http://tunebite.com/en/audio_video_drm_copy_protection/index.html
