The easiest solution on the Mac side of things IMHO to build a site is RapidWeaver - http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/ - You literally do not need to know a line of code to use this software.
How it works: You have to own a domain and have hosting on that domain. Then, you setup RapidWeaver with that domain and your all set. It'sd basically a WYSIWYG editor plus an FTP client built in. When you edit a page you simply click update to have the updates pushed to your server.
Hope this helps!

The interface they provide to build sites on their platform is super simple and makes maintenance simple as well.
They allow you a 14-day no risk (i.e. no credit card required) trial so you can play with it and see if it's for you.

if you are just doing something like a blog, in a diary type of format, and you dont have time to learn some technical skills, maybe just use wordpress.com or blogger. These offer a template and a place to host it for free, no annoying ads. Works great for me.
