A widget, on the computer, is typically a small program that does a simple task. Typical widgets might be one that displays the weather in your area. Another would display the current stock prices.

A widget, in the business world, is typically the generic name for "a product"... a thing that you could touch and sell. "Mr. Accountant, let's say we have 3 million widgets to sell..."
