Quarantining in computer terms essentially means the same thing, however can be applied into two contexts.

Quarantining in human terms is the isolation of a person into a sterile environment, where the effects of whatever they are infected with cannot be passed on or do any damage - within computing this is much the same.

On your local PC, a file may be said to be placed in quarantine if an anti-virus program has flagged it as infected, meaning it is stored within a secure area so that it cannot cause any further damage to other files.

In networking terms, a PC may be placed into 'network isolation' or 'network quarantine' if it is believed to be infected with a virus or other malware, ensuring that this cannot spread to other machines on a network.

It's basically the same thing as it means regarding human diseases. If a file is quarantined, it means it gets isolated in an area where it cannot infect (or even affect) other files. It allows you to look at the file without running an application or infecting your computer.

Quarantine in computer term means "to put into a secluded folder". A type of location in the file system in which only "you" the user can restore it back to it's original place/location/folder.
More often this term is used by anti-virus software to describe a location in which viruses are thrown in order to prevent more damage.
