It's probably an error on their end. Some kind of downtime with their server. Wait a couple of hours, I would say. If everything else is working and it's worked in the past I'm 99% it's just a problem on their end.
You can try doing the standard drill of emptying your cache and deleting your cookies in case you have something in your cache that's causing a problem but it's probably just a problem you have to wait out.

In general connection refused is a problem on their end. The only case where this wouldn't be is if you are running some kind of applet on your end on the webpage. For instance the flicker uploader. In that case it might be a problem on your end.
Some chat clients that run in applets would be an additional example.
But connection refused means that nothing was listening on the other end to the port of whatever you were trying to use was trying to talk to. In this case it was mostly like the database that is connected to your yahoo group.
It if doesn't clear up in a day you may want to report it to Yahoo groups customer support.
Good Luck!

What does "connection refused" mean?
Beyond the obvious. :-)
I'm trying to get some things done in the Yahoo group we get most of our food through, and it keeps giving me a blank white screen that says "connection refused". Is it refusing my ISP, or my address?

Yeah the applet is a possibility. Sometimes Firefox addons can do that too,

This was just a common, everyday attempt to access the group's pages after I was logged on. Nothing changed on my end that I know of. But thanks for the answer! It's a relief to know it's probably not on my end.
