What do you think about Synaptics new ChiralMotion Gesture Technology?

http://www.synaptics.com/about/press/press-releases/synaptics%C2%AE-announces-patent-granted-chiralmotion%C2%AE-gesture-technology

Synaptics ChiralMotion gesture technology is well-suited for devices such as notebooks, feature-rich mobile handsets, personal navigation systems, and personal media players that require easy control over entertainment, music, and other digital files

How will this technology impact your navigation of new devices?

I have always liked gesture technologies. Apple has implemented some of them on the iPhone and MacBook (scrolling up and down, moving between images and web pages, etc), but they can go much farther.

It would be very useful on handheld devices, especially those without a keyboard. For example, using an iPhone that has more gesture technology, I could program a finger swipe to go back to the previous page while browsing the web, use a keyboard macro, open a program from inside another program, etc.

Handheld devices, while great to use, have significant drawbacks, simply because not everything can be fit on them. Using gestures would eliminate some of these limitations by expanding the capabilities of the device. As long as it's implemented correctly, obviously.
