I think Hulu is a great product for consumers. I have watched dozens of episodes of various TV shows on Hulu.
Hulu provides something that normal TV doesn't: flexibility. With Hulu, I can watch what I want, when I want, and where I want. Even with a DVR, I am still tied to my television to watch the programs that I like.
Hulu allows me to not only time shift, but place shift. When I'm at a friend's house, or when I have a slow day at work, or even if I'm in another room in my house away from the TV, I can still watch the shows. That flexibility is something that I as a consumer demand, and if there are programs that don't allow for it, then I will watch them far less.
Yes, this new way of thinking is causing growing pains for broadcasters. But as technology moves forward, the broadcasters and content providers will have to move forward with it, or risk being marginalized.
