What do companies look for in a social media manager role?

I specialize in social media web development and good at driving conversactions in niche online communities. My background has been in web technology for relationship marketing. Now I would like to go into social media marketing full time. Interests in driving social commerce and mobile social. Would companies be interested in my background? Thanks!

Yes, I think they would. Just as long as you have a strong knowledge of social media and use it on a daily basis. It helps if you have proof of successful social media campaigns.
