If you're interested in setting up a good, long-term blog, I'd suggest going with a hosting service that supports WordPress. It's highly customizable, and the majority of professional bloggers out there use some form of the WordPress platform.
If you're new, and not really sure where you want to take a blog, a good step may be to use a blogger.com . It's super-simple to start up, and if you decide you need more customization later, it's easy enough to move yourself.

Erica, if you are new to blogging, try blogger.com it is quick and painless, also it indexes well on search engines. If you blog for a specific niche or specialty such as pets, food, hobbies, do a search for a blog community in that niche. You'll find a lot of free support, help and ideas, also a good foundation before striking out on your own. Linda
