My son is on his way to Japan and has put Fring on my phone n I've signed up for Skype. He has a 3G iPhone, can I use either to contact him?

Yes. You can contact him easily by Skype - so long as you have credit on your Skype account, he has his credit on his phone and he has his phone switched on!

An alternative, If you want FREE Skype VOIP calls. No Skype or Mobile credits required.

Your son could buy a Wifi Skype phone. It looks like a regular mobile phone, only it gets its signal thru wifi. He could make free Skype to Skype calls on any wifi hotspot.
