Linux: How can I get a digital tuner card working on a usb live distro ? (Details Inside)(No hdd for use)
Was wondering if it was possible to get my re-branded Hauppauge HVR-1500 working on my Fedora 10 Live USB Distro.
I don't want to use any Hard disk space for linux But i'm willing to use some of the space available on the flash drive if not all, its 2gig and pretty quick.
How could this be accomplished ?

I have tried multiple things to try and get it working, but keep running into resource issues. MMIO issues etc.
I will award the tip to the person that gets the cards digital video and audio working within tolerable limits. No exceptions.
I'm open to using a different linux distribution but would like to stick with fedora running compiz (like i have it now) if possible.
PS:
By the way , for anyone simply going to LinuxTV or the Hauppauge site and seeing that linux support is "in development" i guarantee you that drivers and firmware exist and work under optimal conditions.

I would highly recommend going with a DVR specific distribution to avoid the headaches of installing drivers and keeping everything up to date and working. I have used MythTV with Hauppauge cards before and let me tell you they have great support!
A few MythTV-centric distributions you might want to look in to:
Ubuntu Based -- http://www.mythbuntu.org/
Fedora Based -- http://mythdora.com/
The nice things about these distributions is that they come pre-packaged and ready to go for use with all the major TV tuner cards.
Geekbox is certainly a pretty cool project with a very sleek and sexy interface but I feel it lacks some of the functionality you may be looking for such as easy and rock solid DVR recording.

My main concern is just getting the card to work _at all_ (audio&video;), I will try mythdora however I have my doubts it will have the desired affect.
The problems lie with (if you haven't figured it out already) , is that there are to many safe guards in place for USB and CD/DVD distros to protect the media. (Which is good for what it is used for) In my case it is working against me.
Some examples of this are persistent changes etc etc.
I think my best strategic method of accomplishing my goal is to find a way to use one of these video based live linux distributions and yet at the same time formatting the usb drive with 2 or even 3 or 4 separate partitions.
One partition would be lower fat (fat16) (for booting), Fat32 (For complete compatibility), and then optimally adding a ext2 or ext3 partition for even greater compatibility and speed, and finally a exfs partition for unsurpassed speed with using the drive.
However then I run into other issues like available size.
I'm a reasonable person and recognize the fact I might not be able to do all of this, however I do see a light at the end of this tunnel.
Geexbox (?Geekbox?)
As far as geexbox goes, I know very little about it and I really don't want to risk problems in the future with compatibility with modules I currently use on a day to day bases.
Like I said though, Getting the card even working in my proposed environment is simply my main concern.

You know that is a very disconcerting comment, I never said I would not be willing to try it.
I simply stated that it imposed A greater risk to me.
There for, other options might have been more viable.
Being a yellow belt you should know by now that had you added more content and substance into your original answer I might have put more faith and practicality on your answer.

Some notes, Mythdora Didn't work , using nommoconf Didn't work , using noapic or apci=off Didn't work , geexbox ROYALLY Didn't work. -- I have tried the firmware listed here ~> http://www.steventoth.net/linux/xc5000/HVR-12x0-14x0-17x0_1_25_25271_WHQL.zip
I am atleast 40% sure i have tried this firmware above.
