Is there such a thing as a digital typewriter?

This probably sounds very dumb, but I would really love to have something I could write on and have all the documents digitized and not have to use a computer with the temptation of the internet keeping me from actually writing.
And the full-sized keyboard is also pretty important. If it doesn't exist, I suppose I will just get a good old-fashioned one :-\

Brother makes this electronic typewriter. The one that is 'digital' typewriter is the ML-300

Personally, I have tried DarkRoom. It is great but I can't leave without spell check. Otherwise, it's great writing tool.

The Brother has a digital display but does not record the material digitally which is what 311 says he wants.

Get a computer and don't hook it up to the internet, install some word processing software on it. Whether it be a laptop or big desktop PC, you have yourself a digital typewriter!

You could even unistall all of the default games on the system, and everything else that you don't really need).

I haven't seen one for sale for years. They were put out of business, I believe, by computers. Computers are multipurpose and cost less and the software is easier to upgrade. You can create the equivalent of a dedicated word processor (I think that was what they were called) with a cheap computer, a good keyboard, and word processing software (download Open Office from the internet) Having a real computer, even a cheap one, allows you to select your choice of word processing software, and your choice of comfortable keyboard. You can always disconnect from the internet.

Yes, digital typewriters exist, but for the price you would spend on one, it's best you get an old computer. It can be a notebook or desktop computer. Simply do not connect the Internet to it, and get a good quality screen. Then all you need is a printer if you are looking to print the documents.

If you want to get a digital typewriter, Brother makes a good one, and you can likely find it any office supply store.

311 says he wants his documents digitalized, and a digital typewriter like Brother doesn't do that. Of course, if he buys the refurbished Lexitron he'll have to find some 5 1/4" disks somewhere.
