Do you care about speed, what does your pc/Mac support. Do you want the external drive to be portable?

I have an Iomega

, I bought this particular one because I store my mp3s and iTunes db on it, so I use it at work on the USB2.0 but I can use the FireWire 400 at home.  It also fits in a nice little case from Case Logic.

There's also Maxtor

I also own a few of these at home, they're super fast (firewire 800) and you can Dasie Chain them so you'll never run out of ports on your machine
