They don't always. Sometimes they do it just to frustrate people.
The emails saying that you have just inherited money don't get that many people to respond, but when they do they can use the information they gather to steal the responders identity.

if we're lucky, they won't make any money and they will buy a clue and stop sending spam. then, they will try something else....... like direct mail (junk mail in your postal mailbox!).... or ...... future stuff!!.......

just a guess... because there is a fool born every minute who is ready to part with his / her money... and there is always someone willing to take it.... :) if we're lucky, they won't make any money and they will buy a clue and stop sending spam. then, they will try something else....... like direct mail (junk mail in your postal mailbox!).... or ...... future stuff!!.......
