Yep, sounds like a virus or malware. 16 days ago. wow. I hope you've fixed it already.. if not here a CHEAP way to fix most virus/malware problems. I charge $50 to do this for people..
Two things:
Download and install Avira antivirus and Malbytes AntiMalware
First:
I use and recommend a program called Avira Antivir Personal. http://www.free-av.com/ Avira does offer a commercial or paid version, but after using it for a while, I couldn’t see any major differences, minus the popup. Avira does have a Pop Up ad that comes on when you update, but that’s the only drawback to this program, however, if you follow my directions below you’ll probably never see the popup. Sure, I’ll deal with a daily popup to have perhaps the Best antivirus in the world. Did I say Best? Yes, according to many reports Avira is one of the top three antivirus programs and features the easiest interface and features the most consistent scanning engine.

Here's how to set it up to UPDATE and SCAN AUTOMATICALLY.

SECOND:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
This will remove and neutralize the malware that is highjacking your system. After you install it, update it (simple) and run a COMPLETE scan. Follow the directions after the scan.
That's it. Download and install both of those programs. You can run both scans at the same time, but may not be able to do anything else (like surf the net) with your computer while they are scanning. It may take 2 hours to scan your system depending on size of hard drives. Sometimes I unplug the internet from the computer while it is scanning, though you don't have to..
Please PM me if I can be of further assistance...
