Thanks for the cut and paste easyeboy, but I think the poster was more interested in the process. I think the process boils down to this:
1) Find a market you want to sell into
2) Choose a market segment with an unmet need
3) Develop a feature specification that meets this need
4) Hire/outsource a lead dev that can turn a feature specification into a design specification
5) Hire/outsource devs that can execute on the design specification
6) Hire/outsource testers that can test the code
7) Hire/outsource marketers that can market the product
8) Hire/outsource sales reps that can sell the product
9) Gauge feedback from the market response and start the cycle all over again
For each of these steps there are literally endless resources to turn to. Maybe post a new question depending on what step in the process you are at.

My tip for getting the most out of Mahalo Answers is to ask well focused questions. For example, depending on what you're looking to find out, you could ask:
- What are good sources of funding for... ?
- What are some critical steps for a startup doing... ?
- What advice do you have on marketing... ?
The gaps in the questions are for you to fill in your own details. Even as a software development company, the best answer will depend a lot on whether you're offering web development to numerous small clients, or writing an enterprise app, for example.
There are some pretty clued up tech and business people here who can help you if you ask the right kind of questions.
