Within the context of Mahalo, the math is pretty straightforward. I think you would need to be second degree black belt to take full advantage. A combination of the following could be difficult to attain and sustain for steady income.
Tasks: $1000/7 = 143 tasks per week
Barn-raising: $1000/2 = 500 tasks per week
Best Answer on Twitter questions: $1000/.25 = 4000 best answers per week
Best Answer on Tipped questions $1000/1.00 or more = 1000 or less
Managing popular pages for ad revenue = $4000/50 = 80 good earning pages
Mahalo is fairly generous compared to other sites that pay for contributions like KGB and such.
Now if you actually look at being an employee working on-line for sites that pay wages, you may want to look at the jobs available at companies that own and operate a portfolio of web sites like:
http://www.internetbrands.com/
They have some current positions for at home work after initial training period in El Segundo, California. The company is publicly traded and has been around for about 10 years.
Then of course there are the old standbys for freelance work that you bid on.

If you have a creative mind you could always upload a entertaining video to break.com and they will pay you $400 if your video makes the homepage.
~T-shirt hell.com~
If you able to come up with a outrageous or offensive t-shirt idea they will pay you $200 per t-shirt idea.
I've seen a few people make some quick cash off of these.

How to make a $1000 in a week online?
Yep, I know there's a lot of "How to make money online?" questions on Mahalo - but this is slightly different.
What I am asking is a list of ways of making a $1000 - for example - answer 20 questions on Mahalo Answers...etc...

Design a T-shirt for Threadless and have it accepted for print. Then you can make $2000!

Personally all these answers are acceptible, I definatly have tried with the ebay thing and shirt designing, I must say ebay is a HOT choice. I have over 200 collectbles in old toys I used to play with as a younger child and then realized just 40 of them are worth about 300$
