I'd say very popular. Although there are not many new features added - there will be a much higher performance with better battery options and less memory being stored and having a very pleasing touch friendly appearance.

The performance is one thing which is currently attracting me to getting it, although I am being slightly persuaded towards a Mac. Also, there will be Microsoft Office 2010 which seems to have also a nice interface but the features are not all confirmed.

I hope you are VERY right. We can just keep saying that... spread the word like a whispering campaign... and people will forget VISTA ever existed. The OS needs improvement, not go backwards!! :) Cheers!

WILDLY popular, I hope. personal opinion here and what I hear from my customers... they do not like Vista (too many "nanny nags", fake-helpful pop up windows, runs slow)

Now... to rah rah encourage my coders to keep updating our software to run with "Windows 7"... :) ... beta testing done. so far just fine.

Hopefully for the general public, there will not be too many of the typical third party software incompatability issues. i.e. simple things like, printers, personal photo or art software, add-on devices........

For example, my HP printer still BURPS a lot under Vista... etc...
