I like the idea of having my phone number move with me. If I ever need to break a contract or switch to another carrier I don't have to have everyone relearn my phone number. Everyone is complaining that they don't want to have people learn a new number but the fact is that GV prevents you from having to do this ever again in the future.
I also enjoy the voice transcription and multiple phone management.
The texts over data is great when it works.

It just seems to much work to have everyone learn my new phone number... and I like my old one.....
The transcribed voicemails are cool, the unlimited texting is great, and I downloaded the app for my iPhone before Apple banned it.... But Google Voice really tailors itself to people who have lots of phones and need to consolidate... Who always need to be able to answer every phone at once....
Personally, I would do it if it didn't mean the hassle of having to tell everyone I have a new phone number...

These are just some of the major benefits I like, it really is a sweet app. I have been using it since GrandCentral days.

This is the best thing since sliced bread! The real plus for me is the voice transcription and sms to email, even though sometimes the transcription can be quite funny. But the other thing I really like is its tied to my google contacts and you can send an individual number straight to voice mail. These are just some of the major benefits I like, it really is a sweet app. I have been using it since GrandCentral days.
