Hey dsgamer,

You didn't mention if you wanted to talk during your show, so I assume you just want to play mp3s for your entire show.
  1. Plug in your audio device prior to opening the Ustream broadcaster window.
  2. Open the Ustream broadcaster window by selecting your show and clicking "Broadcast Now" in your "My Shows" page or the Homepage.
  3. Select the audio device from the Audio Sources drop down menu. If you have a mic plugged into the input on your computer or laptop then select "Built-in Input". If you want to use the embedded webcam mic then select "Built-in Microphone". If you want to use the audio from a DV camera then you need to connect it to your laptop via a cable connection (i.e. XLR to 1/8" jack or 1/8" jack to 1/8" jack) and then select "Built-in Input".
  4. Click "Apply" in the broadcaster window.
  5. Make sure "Audio Broadcast" is checked under the Local Stream Monitor is set to "On".
If you want to talk and have an mp3 playing in the background, like
they do on radio in between songs, for example, it gets more
complicated in that you'll need a mixer at your desk. You'd have your
mp3 audio and your microphone flowing into the mixer, and then the
output of the mixer would go to your computer's Line In port.

Hope that helps,

Mike

I'm not sure I understand. What I am trying to do is broadcast an mp3 of my podcast on ustream and for some reason I can never get the audio to work. Any suggestions?

Well, the only way I've done that in the past is to simply have your microphone situated near the speakers so it can pick up your podcast as it's playing. I don't have the right kind of cable to plug my mp3 player into my computer's Line In jack, so I can't really test to see if that works.

But having your microphone near your speakers will work. Quality won't be 100%, but it will do the trick.
