How do I name a phone number in Gmail beyond Work, Home, Mobile, Other etc?

I don't want 5 "Other" listings and I want it to be dialable in my new Droid that I'm getting Friday. Setting "(xxx) xxx-xxxx beach house" as the number is the best I could do and I'm not sure that will even dial out.

I have several phone numbers for a few of my Gmail contacts.
John Smith
Work NY
Work LA
Mobile
Home NY
Home LA
Beach House

It hasn't been a huge problem b/c I can put some of these in the notes area. Now I'm getting a phone with the Android OS and I would like to be able to dial these. The contacts options are rather limited. I don't want Home 1, Home 2 this requires that I remember which is LA or Beach etc. How do I label these numbers so I can dial out on my cell phone and recognize the incoming calls location. The only thing that I have hit on is storing as "Other" and then as the whole number writing "(xxx) xxx-xxxx Beach House." This may work, I'll see Tomorrow, but is a work around at best.

Hi PK,

To be able to dial local numbers you can rename them as (xxx) xxx-xxxx name. It will only dial the numbers it will see. Or try using a pause code P.
