How can you speed up Tor anonymous surfing on a Mac?

I've been playing with Tor, the anonymous surfing tool, and it is unbearably slow--is there a way to speed it up? Is there a paid TOR service that is faster?

Check this out:

A few other notes.

-Your tor speed is limited by the server layers that are protecting your identity.
-Make sure that you are using privoxy too, the firefox plugin is great.
- Google VPN - http://www.realtechnews.com/posts/1877
- This website has some tweaks for tor that should help you out JC.

Find another provider if this one is too slow. Since your traffic is bounced around the net for awhile it takes time for it to get to you. The number of hops are determined by the provider, and the number of users also slows down the response. So the easy thing is to simply find another provider.

In a word, no.

The cut in speed is part of the price you pay for the anonymity.

Iron Key runs a TOR network where they control the node you connect to and the last node that talks to the internet. In the middle are a number of public nodes. (Owned by whomever.)

That doesn't make their network any faster, though.

no there isn't. It's like water going through pipes, a straight line is allot faster then going through a grid with lots of split-ups and corners etc..

tor is the best by far no contest, they split up the data with multiple proxy server while sent and received so not even your isp knows where you are going

The best solution out there is NetShade, but it's $30. Unlike Tor it's fast and it's easy to set up.
