No need to use fake URL directories - all you need to do is use Google Analytics' Event Tracking which is basically a Javascript API to register your own custom events.
See the GA's guidelines.

How can I use google analytics in a site using only one URL?
I have a site that doesn't do much and is therefore only one page, and everything that is done is generated as responses to the user from that page. This means that google analytics shows only the one page. The page is in truth doing many things from accepting a user into a mailing list, to fetching some data, etc.
Does anyone know of a way I can change or manipulate the standard google analytics javascript code to let it know there are different actions happening? I'd rather not resort to using fake URL directories.

• Is a short but correct answer. However I would have gave a much higher rating to the answer if they had maybe given an example or two of how you would use the Event Tracking.
