As far as I know, Final Cut does not accept Vegas projects. Can you export the Vegas file to a movie file and then import that into Final Cut or do you have to have the subclips, etc.? In other words, can you turn your Vegas project file into a .mov/.avi/etc. and then import that into FCP, or do you still need to edit within the Vegas file? Is there a particular reason you're transferring? I've worked with both extensively, so I could help you out - just need to know what you're doing.

How can I transfer a project file from Sony Vegas 8 to Final Cut Pro 6?
I'm trying to export a Vegas 8 project to Final Cut Pro 6. I've tried EDL, but I get an "Object Required" error, apparently because it doesn't support subclips, XML, which Final Cut complains about because I don't have a translation file to go along with it, and AAF, which I can't even seem to get Final Cut to read. Any help would be appreciated.

To be honest, I don't really NEED to do it so much as it would be a pretty nice convenience. I have an old video project that I started in Vegas which hasn't been touched in a year, but I've gotten some new motivation to start working on it again now that I have a copy of Final Cut Pro to work with. It's episodic, and I don't really have to go back and make modifications to old episodes, but it would be nice to have the option to do so without having to swap drives from Mac to PC and back again.

Right. Well don't lose those Vegas files. I mean, you will always be able to access them if you really need to (as long as you have your PC). Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Final Cut cannot open Vegas projects. For simply projects, you might be able to output an EDL from Vegas and import that. You can always just render out to a file and then import the rendered video.
