Question

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
Has anyone modified a Acer Aspire 3680 so it can boot XP and windows 7 off of a USB connected Hard drive?
I get blue screen of death. I know there is some guy that has reloaded the OS so when it boots it doesn't shut off USB. I think that is what is causing blue screen of death. Also the hard drive is a SATA and was removed from the ACER and put in a dual cable USB enclosure.

Windows 7 doesn't permit you to install on an external usb. However, I have been able to install it on an internal and then remove the internal from the laptop and put it into an external case. Unfortunately this is when the bluescreen comes up because it shuts off USB and turn's it back on as part of the boot up process - if I were able to stop it from doing that then it would complete the boot process and run off of external usb. Thanks for trying though!
