I've been writing on my own blog for more than 3 years now and I have to say it is a good way to start writing if you say to yourself: "I have to write a real article every xth day" and really stick with that.

While my blog isn't a blockbuster, it does have it's followers. The good thing about my blog hoster community is that there are very rarely comments like "That sucked" or "Awesome dude", but really good and sometimes critical comments.

So, if you stick with it and force yourself to write, it helps. But if you write 2 articles every 3 years it won't :D
