Try Ulead my husband, sister and my daughter is using it to edit videos and they are all praise about how good is it. My daughter is only 11 years old so I think this must be good enough for a beginner.

One thing to note is that without a decent computer you will struggle to edit anything complex! And also that editing is not an easy thing to pick up and run with, it will take time to learn whichever program you eventually stick with!
Good luck!

For anyone who does video editing, recommend any programs for a beginner?
I'm just trying a few things to really see if i like it. I've tried a few programs so far: Cyberlink Powerdirector, Corel VisualStudio Pro X2, Sony Vegas Studio and Pinnacle Studio.
I'm using Windows, obviously.

Powerdirector is a good product, Adobe Premiere is also one to take a look at. iMovie and Final Cut on the Mac are awesome.

I would recommend getting hold of Adobe Premiere, simply because it is very well supported and I am sure you could easily find tutorials and forums with a quick google search, easing you in. There is two versions of Premiere, Elements and Pro. Elements is for home users, and actually is not very different from Pro. I'd say you should have a look at the differences (wikipedia has a list on the Premiere page) and see if any of them are relevant to what you want to do with your video. One thing to note is that without a decent computer you will struggle to edit anything complex! And also that editing is not an easy thing to pick up and run with, it will take time to learn whichever program you eventually stick with!
Good luck!
