If I am not wrong, the original model allowed for 640x480 and some of the newer 'HD' ones offer a bit of a higher res.

It takes video at 1080p and stills at 5.3mp which translates to 2592x1944 resolution. You might also consider a Canon SD1200 IS which is a digital still camera that also takes video, although the video is not 1080p.
