Does the manufacturing of solar panels do damage to the environment?
If so how much? And is this damage offset by the energy it creates?

Most solar cells are made from silicon. The process of manufacturing it can produce waste which damages the environment. Some of the newer solar cells use toxic materials:

You could argue either way on things made by hand from renewal resources. ( as long as fire is not involved )
Even farming with an Oxen and a woden plow damages the environment.
And the point is if making solar panels does more damage than using conventional energy sources.
