I had the same problem, my computer crashed and I had to reformat the disk and clean install again, so all my songs & videos were lost.
This is under the assumption that your library is still in your iPod
Here's the step by step instruction:
1. When you connect the iPod to the computer and the iTunes asks if you want to sync? CLICK NO!!!
2. Go to "Edit", "Preferences", "Advanced Tab", then uncheck Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library.
3. Enable disk use on your iPod.
4. Go to my computer, then click on the iPod drive, and import the folders to a designated spot, then drag the files to the iTunes.

Does anyone know how to get your iTunes library back if it deletes itself!?!?!?
